Mission:
Slow Food is an international educational organization dedicated to the revival of the kitchen and the table as centers of pleasure, culture, and community; to the invigoration and proliferation of regional, seasonal culinary traditions; to the stewardship of the land and ecologically sound food production; and to leading a slower and more harmonious life. Slow Food Pittsburgh has close to 200 members and is growing.
Long Range Plans:
We continue to cultivate other groups to share information, event coverage and expenses. We aim for one SFP event a month. They vary, perhaps a simple tasting, restaurant dinner or a community support event. Events vary in price and in location so that they are affordable and accessible to as many people as possible. We hope to place more emphasis on younger fry. All events have an educational point of view, and we try to have strong support materials in the form of speakers and handouts. Your help needed! Let us know if you are interested in hearing more.
