With details of the ‘06 harvest fresh in his head, Eric will tell how a Pennsylvania winery has acquired honors and high ratings in Food & Wine, Bon Appetite, Wine Enthusiast, and Wine Spectator.

We will taste five Chaddsford wines: 2005 Pinot Grigio, 2005 Pinot Noir, 2001 Merican, 2004 Due Rossi and 2005 Spring. You will take home a Chaddsford wine glass.

Befitting Slow Food, we will go home knowing (finally!) what the heck is bio-dynamic (and who is doing it) what is organic (and who is doing it) and what is sustainable (and who is doing it).

The wines will be paired with great American artisan cheeses and cured meats. Look for a new American prosciutto and other good things including a surprise dessert pairing.

An army of over-qualified Slow Food allies will talk us through the tasting: Eric and his eloquent wife Lee, the engaging Nick Ambeliotis, owner of Mediterra Bakery (and former cheese importer), and at least one informative member of the Whole Foods cheese department.

Setting the stage: we‘ll watch a glass center artist demo the blowing of a wine goblet in the studio upstairs. Thank you, Lissa Rosenthal, Slow Food member and departing marketing director of the Pittsburgh Glass Center.
