PASA Fall Farm Bus Tour

What: The Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture (PASA) is delighted to announce its first-ever Fall Farm Bus Tour, featuring farms of Pennsylvania's South Central region.

When: Saturday, October 8, 2005

When: 9:00 am to 9:00 pm

Cost: $99 per person

Reservations: Space is limited! To reserve your seat on the Fall Farm Tour, call PASA at 814-349-9856

You are invited to join PASA for a day of feasting and adventure! This tour is designed with the food enthusiast in mind. The day starts with a visit to Hollabaugh Bros. Orchards where you can sip hot cider, pick apples, and enjoy sweet honey sticks. Next, we'll head to Wil-Ar Farm, which features a diversified livestock operation and on-farm cheese plant. We'll sample farmstead cheese and enjoy a pastured chicken Bar-B-Que (vegetarian options available). From there, we'll make the short trip to a new but thriving CSA, Grassroots Farm. After touring the farm, we'll learn how to make sauerkraut from the fall harvest and take home samples we make ourselves. Last, we'll pay a visit to Spiral Path Farm, one of the largest organic farms in the state. The farm tour will be followed by an amazing dinner featuring locally grown organic fare and Pennsylvania wines.

Other highlights from the day include a lecture by a barn historian, tales by local farmers, and hayrides. And don't forget to bring your coolers! There will be plenty of opportunities to stock up on farm-fresh favorites offered at the farms throughout the day!

We'll meet at the Farm Show Auxiliary Parking Lot in Harrisburg, where you'll leave your car to be picked up at the end of the tour. Directions and other information will be sent to you upon registration. We look forward to sharing our maiden voyage with you!

$99 per person includes: Apple Picking, Sauerkraut Making, Take-Home Souvenirs, Pastured Chicken Bar-B-Que Lunch (vegetarian options), Refreshments throughout the Day, Hayride, Tour of On-Farm Cheese Plant, Barn History, Dinner Reception Featuring Organic Fare and Local Wines, Group Photo at Covered Bridge
