Terra Madre / A World Meeting of Food Communities

Terra Madre arose from the network of producers and activists created by the Slow Foods Awards. It was first held in October 2004, in Turin, Italy, and it is planned to be held every two years. Terra Madre is truly a global village with farmers and food producers from over 120 nations attending. These are the people who grow, catch, raise and distribute food. Chefs attend, too.

Over four days, delegates participate in workshops and discussions, all structured around the central themes of sustainability, biodiversity, community and local development.
