FEATURING: A tomato-celebrating supper with chef-author and Post-Gazette food columnist Miriam Rubin. Legume's menu is inspired by recipes from Miriam's new book,
"Tomatoes, A Savor the South Cookbook." Miriam will be just back from speaking at the James Beard House in New York.

Tomatoes! Sunday Supper at Legume
August 11, 4-8 pm
TIME: Cocktails & passed hors d'oeuvres start at 4 pm. Dinner at 5:30 pm.

COST: $55 covers dinner, two drinks --choose from Bloody Marys (of course), wine or beer-- includes tax and gratuity. Cash bar available. 

Tamworth hog from the Kennedy Farm; tomatoes and other produce from Who Cooks for You Farm; more tomatoes from Miriam's garden. Legume cures the ham, pickles the cukes, grinds the organic Clarion River cornmeal. 

Cherry tomatoes stuffed with Crabmeat Remoulade (crabmeat flown from Maine where Legume owner Trevett Hooper and family will be vacationing) and Cherry Tomatoes Stuffed with House-Smoked Ham and House-Made Pickles and Cold Curried Tomato Soup Topped with a Mini-Biscuit. 

Miriam will tell all about the book during appetizers.
Then she will lead us into the kitchen. She and cooks Brian Wiltrout and Raf Valencio will serve the main courses buffet-style. 

Main Courses:
Green Tomato and Pork Biscuit Pie. (Vegetarian option, Spoonbread with Cherry Tomato Sauté)
Tomato and Watermelon Salad with Feta and Oregano
Cornmeal-Crumbed Fried Green Tomatoes with Buttermilk- Black Pepper Dressing

Spiced Green Tomato Crumb Cake with Scoop of Cinnamon Ice Cream
